    The Rotary Club of Lisburn has added to its ongoing fundraising efforts by raising a staggering £17k at the 7th Invitational Golf Day which took place recently at Lisburn Golf Club.

    Over 80 Rotarians along with their guests and supporters took part in the event to raise much needed funds for three very important charities, NI Cancer Fund for Children, Mencap and The Rotary Foundation.

    Monies raised will go towards helping NI Cancer Fund for Children deliver practical, emotional and financial support to children and young people affected by cancer and also to Mencap, which has been nominated as this year’s Presidents Charity will use much needed funds to help build, equip and run a new children and families’ centre in Belfast for children with a learning disability, while The Rotary Foundation will use the funds to assist with humanitarian activities both locally and globally.

    Gary Corkin, President, Lisburn Rotary was delighted with the event;

    “We are very passionate about our work and I’m delighted that as one of my first events as President we have succeeded in raising such a staggering amount of money for three very worthy causes. I’d like to thank all those that made an effort to attend, support and take part and to say that I am very proud of the work the Rotary does within our local community. I’m delighted that both Mencap and NI Cancer Fund for Children will see such a boost to their fundraising efforts and feel honoured to have been a part of that.”

    To date the Lisburn Rotary Club’s Golf Invitational event has raised over £65,000 for charities in Lisburn and around the world.
