  • Purple 4 Polio Coffee Morning

    Thanks to Trevor and Janice Stewart for hosting a coffee morning with scones,tray bakes with coffee freshly brewed in Johnsons caravan. Aorund £500 was raised by donations from those who enjoyed great hospitality.

    On Sunday 15th May Lisburn Rotarians and their partners and guests enjoyed a pre lunch drinks reception in Oasis travel in Holywood and then moved on to Fontana  Restaurant for Lunch with musical  entertainment provided  by Finbar Keaveney.some

    It was a superbly organised bu PP Sandra and her social committee with good food and the singing of Finbar even manged to get this not so young group joining in enthusiastically.

    It was a delight that Edith Burke, Ethna Brogan and Cherry Guy , widows of  three wonderful Rotarians were able to join us.

  • Trevor Guy Memorial Bursary

    Past President of The Rotary Club of Lisburn,Trevor Guy set up the Trust in 2003 and since then awards of £1000 have been distributed annually to successful applicants.At 31st March 2016 the holding in the fund was valued at £24671.94 and in the last financial yeart a return of 4.5% producing income of £1148.

    This year 2016 after a round of interviews the two young people selected for  the awards attended a club meeting on Thursday 5th May to receive their cheques.

    Kathryn Cowan aged 18 years is going to Thailand for 12 months to help in  local school children to learn and improve their English language skills.

    David Allen who is 26 years of age is travelling to Ecuador on an 18 month project to use his civil engineering skill, by  helping to improve fresh water supplies to remote villages

    The Rotary Club of Lisburn President Gary Corkin presented a cheque for £2000 to Richard Spratt CEO of Fields of Life at theClubs  lunch meeting on the 18tho f March. The money will go towards the provision of clean water in Uganda.Also in the picture is Club Treasurer Helen Coulter who intend to climb mount Kilimanjaro as part of a Fields Of Life Group.

    Presentation Cancer fund for children - CopyOver the last few years the club has pledged support for the Cancer Fund For Children. At a Club meeting in February 2016 a further Cheque for £7555 was presented to the Representative of the Fund by President Gary accompanied by some Club members

    Over the years Club members have enjoyed an evening at the cinema in the small and atmospheric Tudor cinema in Comber. On Monday 21st march after a pleasant meal in Comber members again enjoyed a social evening at the movies.

    On Friday 18th March Richard Darrah introduced Dr Paul McConnell of Fusion Theatre Group as the guest speaker.Paul told us how the group had started with a small group of young people interested in drama and how it had grown.He listed the many productions including the latest,Whistle down the Wind which the group had put on mostly in the Lisburn Civic Centre

  • An Evening with Ruan Pienaar and Robbie Diack

    There are a few places still available for what promises to be an excellent event organised by Richard Darrah and the  International Committee at Belfast Harlequins, Deramore Park Clubhouse. Tickets £35 per head

    Ulster’s South African Rugby Stars Ruan Pienaar and Robbie Diack will talk about moving to Ulster from South Africa and their experiences of Life and Rugby in South africa and  Ulster.

    After a welcoming drink a two course fork Supper will be served accompanied by musical entertainment by the Lagan Sea Horses.

    Following this Alan McKelvey (Volunteer Director of Masicorp) will interview Ruan and Robbie.

    All funds raised will go to Masicorp  a charity which works with the township of Masiphumelele in the Westsern Cape.

    We encourage any members who have not already signed up for this event to support it if possible. At present we have approx 110 tickets sold and have a limit of 130
